Mosaic Madness

Ceramic artist Dawn Hair began leading the mosaic making classes last week, helping participants to eventually create beautiful cut-tile artworks from old ceramics pieces, china, tiles and glass.

The first session was an introduction to designing a piece before we started the mosaic itself.

We looked at different types of artworks and artists for inspiration including the Book of Kells, and children’s books with simple illustrations of nature.  It was decided that we would start off by planning a larger piece for everyone to add something to, rather than individual pieces first.  We took the River Clyde as our inspiration and it’s importance to Greenock and the Inverclyde area.

Whether you’ve tried mosaic-making before or you would like to try your hand at a new skill, then pop along to the Tuesday evening classes. Classes take place at the Broomhill Art Flat in Broomhill Court.

This is a great skill to have, and a hobby that can be made out of breaking an old cup!

Mosaic Madness is non-committal and open to all ages and abilities, under 12’s to be accompanied by an adult.
