Whether it’s yourself, your kids, or your Grandkids that want to attend a class, learn a new skill, and meet new people – come along and give one a go!
All classes listed below are held at the Broomhill Art Flat 12 Broomhill Court (ring buzzer 12 for entry), Ann Street, Greenock, PA15 4ET.
Priority for classes is given to Broomhill Residents, then to Inverclyde residents. Classes are non-committal and FREE! Workshops are open to all ages, with children under-12 to be accompanied by an adult (excluding Broomy’s Bairns, where children do not need to be accompanied).
Join sculptor Alan Potter on a Monday afternoon, and create clay sculptures, that can then be used to develop stone carvings. In recent workshops, Alan has been teaching participants how to create 3D clay sculptures, then making moulds of them using silicone and a rubber resin, which can then be used to make Jesmonite casts.
Funk Up Yer Junk
We want you to bring along everything from empty crisp packets and plastic bottles to fashion into fabulous accessories, to old lamps and frames to upcycle to your own taste, with artists Jeanette Sultan and Amelia Rowe. We welcome participants to bring along their own lacklustre pieces of furniture and we will also have furniture that has kindly been donated, so you can still have a go, and take your piece home with you! Plastics such as carrier bags and crisp packets are hugely difficult for our local councils to recycle, so Amelia is going to use them to share skills with participants in how to make items such as jewellery, woven baskets and wallets.
Back by popular demand, is this brilliant workshop! Join ceramic artist Dawn Hair, as she teaches how to create beautiful cut-tile artworks from old ceramic piece, china, tiles stones and shells, to be placed in our up and coming Broomy’s Bees Garden.
This is an on-going creative class for the little ones to explore and make. For ages 5-11 years old. This class is split into two sessions, the first from 3.30pm – 4.30pm, and the second from 4.30pm – 5.30pm. Contact RIG Arts for more details on 01475 649359, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Textiles & Screen-printing Workshop
Join artist Susan McInnes and Steph Davidson to recycle fabrics into amazing pieces of textile art! Come along as the nights draw in, to our friendly welcoming class and learn various sewing and screen-printing techniques while helping to make decorative covers for acoustic panels in the newly opened Broomhill Gardens & Community Hub.
Use new machines to recycle plastic waste on-site, making useful and decorative objects. Suitable for children 5+, teens and adults.
