In the last session with the girls from the ‘Hidden Project’ before we took a break for the summer holidays, we re-capped the techniques we had learnt throughout the term.
Louie brought in some instruments and punk get-up so the girls could stage some band pictures (perhaps for when we release the song we made up). We had great fun painting faces in a punk style and dressing up in heavy leather jackets, pirate hats and oversized trench coats.
Light drawing was also revisited, as was use of the black light to create a vivid effect.
I’ve been so impressed with the progress the girls have made over the last few months and their willingness to try new skills and techniques. They have understood how to work with long exposure, tracing images using lights and experimenting with UV light and paint.
We’ve also seem them develop skills in animation, understanding and working with the sometime painstaking process of moving the animated subject little by little to give an impression of fluid movement.
We’re looking forward to working with the girls and any new members after the summer break has ended.
The Hidden Project is open to young people from S1 upwards and has been running on Thursday evenings from 3pm-5pm at the Broomhill Art Flat, 12 Broomhill Court, PA15 4ET.
