With the Hidden Project, we have been experimenting with different techniques in animation. We have used stop-motion to animate ourselves as well as our own clay models, resulting in some witty and creative short stories. You can see the animations here.
We have also tried flip-book style animations, which is based on the same premise as all of the other techniques we have tried – making a small change to the animated subject and photographing each time. You can make a flip book animation yourself at home, at work or at school. You’ve probably already tried it! The only difference here is that we have taken a picture of each new changes in the illustration, as opposed to layering them page on page in a notebook, and have layered these onto a static background.
Noises were recorded which helped to create a characterful atmosphere for the animations and we’ll work on layering these with the animations next week.
